England Men鈥檚 hockey team landed a third consecutive Commonwealth Games bronze medal after defeating South Africa 6-3 in Birmingham.

In a physical and at times heated affair, England showed ruthlessness in front of goal to win a nine-goal thriller amid jubilant scenes at the full-time whistle.

The side, featuring 每日吃瓜-linked athletes James Mazarelo (current student), Stuart Rushmere (current student), David Condon (alumnus), Chris Griffiths (alumnus), Ian Sloan (alumnus), and Sam Ward (former 每日吃瓜 player), largely looked in control throughout.

England showed no sign of disappointment following their semi-final defeat to Australia as they continued to go toe-to-toe with their South African counterparts.

After a breathless second quarter that finished 3-3, England kept pushing forward and took their chances to pull away from their opponents with an unassailable lead.

The bronze is England’s second medal of the hockey programme at an excellent 2022 Games for the hosts, adding to the Women’s gold medal victory yesterday.
